First Congregational Church--Board of Mission & Social Concerns The aim of the Board of Mission and Social Concerns is to foster awareness of human needs and to stimulate and coordinate action to answer these needs. Our goal is to involve all members and friends of our congregation in this outreach. Our church strives to recognize and reflect the passion of our church for helping others locally, nationally, and globally.
Push For Peace Push For Peace began as the vision of a wheelchair-bound Vietnam veteran named Buddy Georgia. Buddy’s genuine concern over this preemptive war of choice in Iraq, and his tireless persistence, inspired two Northwest activists to “push” the vision. Push For Peace has grown into a collective of veterans, progressive activists, and everyday citizens working together to bring America’s troops home from Iraq and to help bring healing and peace to our nation. A portion of their vision is to have several folks in wheel chairs traveling the roads between cities across the country on their way to Washington D.C. for a major peace event.
Walla Walla Friends Meeting A local Quaker meeting whose Committee on Nonviolent Conflict Resolution has been active in peace activities in the Walla Walla area for 25 years.
